Ganesh Chaturthi 2014 in India - A Brief Info

Ganesh Chaturthi is great festival for Indian peoples.Ganesha Chaturthi (गणेश चतुर्थी) is Hindu festival and being celebrated every year in honour of the god Ganesha. Lord ganesh is the elephant-headed remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings and wisdom.

Ganesh Chaturthi festival is also welknown as Vinayaka Chaturthi. It comes every year as per Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon period).

Mostly Ganesh Chaturthi festival date comes during 19 August and 20 September.But this year, Ganesh Chaturthi 2014 date will comes on 29th August 2014 (Friday).  The Ganeshotsav, the festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi lasts for 10 days, ending on Anant Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waxing moon period).

Ganesh Puja is is generally done during Madhyahana, time at around 5-7 PM. Because it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahana Kaal. Ganpati is worshiped for 10 days, after that Peoples goes for Ganpati Visarjan.
